ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings celebrate the beauty of ordinary objects, rendering them with careful attention to detail. Through the lens of realism, I explore the hidden details in familiar, often overlooked subjects.

A fascination with the tangible connections we have to our past and present guides my practice. I believe that even the most mundane objects we hold dear are a window into who we are. By isolating these objects, I invite viewers to pause and appreciate their quiet and complex beauty, while transporting them back to a moment in time to enjoy the details they might usually overlook.

I work from self-composed photographs, playing with light and shadows, while always honoring negative space to allow each subject to be the hero. Painting in oils allows me to layer and blend colors with a precision that mirrors real-life, with a bold and graphic influence.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Amanda has always loved to create. Having grown up right outside of Washington, DC and its world-renowned museums, she was exposed to art, architecture and design at an early age.

A graphic designer by trade, Amanda spent 17+ years designing in-house for a global, organic beverage brand. Her love for fine arts informed her work yet she always looked for other ways to express her creativity. She began painting in 2018, pulling some of her focus away from the computer and onto the easel. She continues to design with T Creating Co.

Inspired by color, texture, and light, with a meticulous attention to detail, Amanda paints contemporary realism with a bold, graphic influence. Working from self-composed photographs from everyday life, travel, and whatever else inspires her, she focuses on the details of the subject to capture the quiet and complex beauty in each object.

When Amanda isn’t painting in her home studio, designing, or spending time with her family, she can be found exploring new cities in search of photo-worthy public art and the perfect meal.

Amanda lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband and two teenage sons.
